Autumn/Winter 2025 Interior Design Trends: Warm Colours, Textures & Global Style

As we transition into autumn and winter, it’s time to take a look at what’s trending for the 2025 season. Grey is becoming almost non-existent. For so long, interiors were dominated by nothing but grey, but now we’re seeing people reaching for warmer, earthier tones in their homes.

I think this shift comes from what’s happening in the world right now. With the struggles of inflation and the challenges so many are facing, people want to feel cared for and comforted. Warmer colour palettes naturally give that sense of safety and reassurance. Personally, I never liked grey — it always felt cold, like homes weren’t really meant to be lived in — so I’m loving this move towards richer, cosier colours.

This blog will share the key interior design trends we’re seeing crop up for autumn/winter 2025.

Warm Earthy Colours

As I mentioned, people are leaning towards warmer palettes. With Mocha Mousse named Pantone’s Colour of the Year, it’s no surprise that these tones are taking centre stage. Alongside Mocha Mousse, rich browns, terracottas, and ambers are dominating interiors. These hues create a sense of comfort and grounding, reflecting a collective desire for warmth amid global challenges.

Layered Textures & Tactile Materials

Autumn/Winter interiors in 2025 are all about tactile materials with that irresistible “touch-me” quality. Expect to see bouclé, velvet, plush knits, corduroy, faux furs, and handcrafted stone or wood elements. These textures not only enhance the visual appeal but also contribute to a sensory-rich environment.

Fringing, Tassels & Frills

On the hunt for scatter cushions for your sofa or bedroom? I can almost guarantee that during your online search, you’ll come across at least one with fringing or tassels — they’re everywhere right now. Decorative trims have really made a comeback in 2025. Fringing, tassels, and frills are being used to elevate cushions, throws, and curtains, adding a playful yet luxurious touch. These details bring movement and personality into a space.

Where to Shop:

Soho Home: Known for their earthy colour palette, Soho Home is perfect for the autumn/winter trends. They have plenty of cushions, throws, and textiles showcasing fringing, tassels, and frills — proving this trend is very much here to stay.

Artisan, Global Textiles

Kilim rugs, embroidered cushions, and geometric handcrafted pieces are adding cultural richness and depth to interiors this season. These types of items make a home feel lived-in and welcoming. Even better, if you can thrift or source vintage pieces, you’ll add an extra layer of authenticity and charm. (And yes — vintage is very much in right now too!)

Where to Shop:

Oka: Oka has a fantastic selection of Kilim rugs and embroidered cushions. If you’ve never browsed their furniture and accessories, I definitely recommend taking a look — you’ll always find something unique.

So now that we’re in our autumn/winter season, have a think about how you can incorporate these interior trends into your own home if you love keeping up with what’s in. That said, I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t follow trends just for the sake of it. Style your home with colours, textures, and furniture that make you feel something — after all, it’s your home you’re living in, and that’s all that really matters.
